IBBA Elections for 2012 Board
NOTIFICATION OF ELECTION TO THE 2012 BOARD OF DIRECTORS Dear IBBA Members: Well it's that time of year again! Now that Convention 2011 is over - and before our Annual General Meeting in January - we need to starting thinking about the election of our new 2012 Board of Directors. We are therefore calling for nominations to fill the expected vacancies. The timetable for this year's elections will be as follows:
Section 4.1 of the Bylaws states that there can be a minimum of five and a maximum of eleven directors. We currently have the full eleven, of whom five are coming to the end of their current term of office and one has left the board mid-term. The following BOD members are coming to the end of their current two-year term:
The following BOD members have served one year of their current two-year term and will remain on the board for a further year:
Nicole DeGraff and Max Sandburg have served for one year of two-year terms but have asked to stand down at this time. Zane Greathouse has also served for one year, but has surrendered his board seat for personal reasons. There are therefore eight (8) vacancies for the 2012 Board. Call for nominations to the Board of Directors of the International Butterfly Breeders Association, Inc. Members are invited to nominate eligible individuals to fill Board vacancies. You may nominate another member, or you may nominate yourself. If nominating someone else, please check with them first to make sure they are willing to accept nomination. Nominees must confirm in writing (email is acceptable) before the end of the nomination period, that they accept nomination. NOMINEES updated 12 Dec. 2011. Six nominations have been received for the eight vacant board posts. The election is therefore a Slate and a ballot is not required. The IBBA Board of Directors for 2012 will therefore be:
When an IBBA Election results in a slate, the new Board must be approved by the eligible membership in a Vote of Confidence. This usually takes place during the Annual Meeting of Members in January. Officer posts (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) will be decided at the first Board meeting of the new Board. This will be held on the 3rd Monday in January unless announced otherwise. Officers need not be Directors.

The following membership categories are NOT eligible to become Board Members or to vote in Board elections UNLESS they have also paid membership dues in one of the categories above:
In the even that the number of nominees is less than or equal to the number of available seats, the election will be a ‘slate’ and a ballot will not be required. In this event, the slate must be accepted in a vote of confidence of the membership. This usually takes place at the next Annual Meeting of members, which will be held in January 2012.
